Miller Thomson adds staff in Toronto, Vaughan

Miller Thomson LLP has added three new faces to its Toronto office, including a partner and two associates, and one new associate for its office in Vaughan, Ont.

Paul Morrison is a new partner in the firm’s litigation group in Toronto. He has a national reputation as one of Canada’s leading counsel in complex corporate and commercial litigation, including class action litigation, securities litigation, competition litigation, insolvency litigation, professional liability, product liability and domestic and international arbitration.

Morrison regularly acts on behalf of leading companies and institutions, both foreign and domestic, and has appeared at all levels of trial and appellate court, including the Supreme Court of Canada and before administrative tribunals and arbitration panels.

His career has been characterized by numerous lengthy and complex trials. He has represented some of the world’s most prominent institutions and corporations in litigation involving hundreds of millions of dollars.

Mabel Kyei and Kelsey MacKay are the new associates at the Toronto office.

Kyei is a corporate immigration lawyer. She works closely with Canadian employers and multinational corporations to provide strategic and innovative advice regarding Canadian immigration matters, cross border workforce planning, and corporate compliance.

She provides immigration due diligence analysis for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), collaboratively with corporate, tax and employment law efforts for a variety of industries. She works with employees, legal counsel, human resources professionals and relocation specialists to provide clear guidance on immigration processes and requirements.

MacKay is building her practice in a wide range of corporate, commercial and transactional matters, with a focus on domestic and cross-border M&A, corporate reorganizations and general corporate governance. She has experience in various industries, including technology, financial services and retail.

Elyse Calvi is a first year associate in the Vaughan office’s litigation department, seeking to focus her practice in construction litigation and dispute resolution. Throughout her articles Calvi gained exposure to various litigation practice areas and developed a client-oriented approach to her legal services.
