New counsel for Fasken’s Calgary real estate group

Fasken announced that Ken Stewart has joined the firm as counsel to the real estate group. He will be based in the Calgary office.  

According to Fasken’s press release, Stewart practises in commercial real estate. He has experience in the oil and gas industry as well as with operational matters related to power plants, wind farms and processing facilities.

He has advised a variety of clients including an institutional investor that developed and operated a large portfolio of retail, office and hotel assets across the country. He understands municipal legal matters and has experience working on issues specific to government entities.

“Ken’s addition to the Calgary team provides local expertise to our national clients,” said Clarke Barnes, co-managing partner, Calgary. “His real estate knowledge combined with his oil and gas knowledge makes him an asset to our business.”

“As well, his significant experience in municipal matters and capital projects makes him a sought-after advisor on agreements and transactions unique to the public sector,” added Robert Maxwell, co-managing partner, Calgary.

Stewart has negotiated and advised on a wide range of commercial agreements including leases, acquisitions/dispositions, property management, co-ownership and operating agreements. He has also negotiated leases for unique office and industrial developments, and advised on commercial structures in capital projects under changing market conditions.
