The Law Foundation of Ontario announced the appointment of Stephen Thiele to its board of trustees.

According to The Law Foundation’s press release, Thiele is a partner and the director of legal research at Gardiner Roberts LLP where he has been involved in many high-profile cases and has written extensively on a variety of legal topics.

“We’re pleased to welcome Stephen to the board,” said foundation chair Linda Rothstein. “He brings a deep knowledge of legal research and law libraries. And, he has a wide range of experience serving local and international not-for-profits, in particular organizations serving children and youth.”

In 2017, Thiele received the Honsberger Award from the Toronto Lawyers Association (TLA), which the group awarded to him because his dedication to his legal, political and social community represents TLA’s mandated three pillars of information, education, and advocacy.

Thiele is the chair of the Canadian Abridgment Editorial Advisory Board. The Canadian Abridgment is a leading legal research service.

In addition to his accomplishments as a legal scholar and advocate, Thiele has contributed to his community in numerous ways. As a long-time Rotary Club member and executive, including the current president of Rotary Toronto West, he has organized and fundraised for humanitarian efforts to help children’s organizations around the world. He has volunteered on the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee to the Toronto District School Board and the Somali Parent Liaison Coalition, as well as youth baseball and hockey clubs in his community.
