WeirFoulds LLP announced that Daniel H. Thomson has joined the firm as a partner in its financial services and corporate practice groups. His practice focuses on banking and financial services, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity and corporate/commercial transactions.

According to the firm press release, Thomson has extensive experience as both a business and legal professional. Over the past 20 years, he has worked at an international law firm, run a commercial business unit for the Canadian subsidiary of a multi-national Fortune 300 insurance company, run his own legal practice and worked at a well-known mid-size Toronto firm.

“Dan Thomson’s combined business and legal experience is a powerful asset to add to the WeirFoulds corporate group,” said Wayne Egan, managing partner. “We are thrilled to have Dan bring his unique professional background to service our financial services and corporate clients from the startup level all the way to multinational conglomerates.”

Over the course of his career, Thomson has acted for bank and non-bank lenders, borrowers and guarantors, as well as for investors and issuers and also for buyers and sellers in domestic and cross-border secured lending, equity and debt financing, joint venture and mergers and acquisition transactions across a broad spectrum of industries. He also practised in London for a year where he focused primarily on foreign investment into Canada and M&A transactions involving Canadian entities.
