Gowling WLG announced that Rebecca Bromwich has joined the firm as its national diversity & inclusion (D&I) manager. Based in Ottawa, Bromwich will collaborate with firm leadership and other key stakeholders to develop, execute and promote the firm’s D&I strategy and initiatives.

According to the firm’s press release, Bromwich brings a broad range of D&I experience to her new role. A qualified lawyer with a PhD in legal studies, Bromwich has worked, researched and taught extensively in the areas of equality, law reform and conflict resolution. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, she was a staff lawyer at the Canadian Bar Association and director of the conflict resolution program at Carleton University.

“We are excited to have the benefit of Rebecca’s professional guidance when it comes to diversity and inclusion,” said Roberto Aburto, Gowling WLG partner and co-chair of the firm’s national D&I Council. “Since arriving last month, Rebecca has already hit the ground running, working on various partnerships in support of gender diversity and equality. We look forward to working with her to advance the firm’s many diversity and inclusion projects.”

Bromwich is the author and co-author of several books and publications on social justice and D&I issues, including Critical Perspectives on Wives: Roles, Representations, Identities, Work (Demeter Press, 2019) and Youth and the Law: New Approaches to Criminal Justice and Child Protection (Emond Montgomery Publications, 2015). She is actively engaged in volunteer D&I initiatives, including serving as the vice-chair of the County of Carleton Law Association’s Diversity Committee.
