New IP, tech associate for DLA Piper

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP announced that Richard Mar has joined the firm’s Toronto office as ‎associate counsel in the intellectual property (IP) and technology group.‎

According to the firm’s press release, Mar has a practice focused on all aspects of acquisition, transfer and protection of IP rights. He has experience assisting clients with patentability and ‎infringement opinions, drafting licensing agreements, and enforcing IP rights.

He has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent ‎applications and developing global patent filing strategies for clients. He has drafted ‎hundreds of patent applications for clients ranging from sole inventors to large ‎multinational corporations with well established patent programs.‎

Mar joins DLA Piper after working at one of North America’s most prominent patent ‎and trademark IP boutiques. He is admitted to the British Columbia, Ontario and New ‎York bars and is a licensed patent agent in both Canada and the United States, in ‎addition to being a licensed trademark agent in Canada.
