Lavery Lawyers announced that chief executive officer Anik Trudel has been elected as a member of the board of directors of the Montreal Port Authority (MPA). She was previously the chair of the MPA before leaving in 2017.

She succeeds Michel Lessard, who is retiring after nine years of service, the maximum allowed under the Canada Marine Act. He chaired the board for seven of those years.

“After being a member of the board of directors for nine years and the first woman to serve as president, I am honoured by this renewed opportunity,” said Trudel in the firm’s press release. “The Port of Montreal is a key driver of our economy and a flagship of our city. It is a privilege to join the board team,” said Trudel.

According to Lavery chairman Philippe Frère, “this appointment is a reflection of Anik’s strategic and managerial qualities. The role it will play on this board fits perfectly with the firm’s vision of being a growth partner for the key players in Quebec’s economy.”

Correction: Anik Trudel is returning to the Montreal Port Authority as a member of the board, not as chair, as previously reported.
