Fasken announced that Sébastien Richemont has joined the firm as a partner with the commercial litigation group in Montreal.

According to the firm’s press release, with more than 20 years of experience, Richemont is a passionate litigator and a strategic adviser who is well respected in the legal profession. He has appeared before courts in all jurisdictions and is the lead trainer and co-organizer of the professional training program sponsored by the Université du Québec à Montréal.

In addition to having a deep knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methods, Richemont has led numerous class actions, complex contract disputes and important files on manufacturer's liability. A member of the Quebec bar since 1997, he has been at the forefront of several large-scale and well-publicized mandates in the field of information technology, energy, infrastructure, securities litigation and defamation.

“I am happy to join the Fasken team. The firm offers a wide range of legal services to its clients and has a highly talented litigation team. I am sure this will be a winning partnership,” said Richemont.

Prior to joining Fasken, Richemont practised for 21 years at Woods LLP, a boutique firm that specializes in litigation, arbitration and insolvency.

“Sébastien has an excellent reputation and a strong influence in the business community. His in-depth knowledge in class actions and commercial litigation will be a great asset to the firm’s clients and will contribute to the strength of our litigation team. We are proud to welcome him,” said Éric Bédard, managing partner for the Quebec region.
