■ Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP has hired four new associates in the Toronto office’s financial group: Lauren Leahy, Danielle Butler, Michelle Le and Ora Morison. Seven other associates are joining the Toronto office in the following areas: intellectual property group, Stephanie Curcio and Ankita Kapur; litigation group, Daniel Szirmak and Brittany Shamess; restructuring and insolvency group, Juliene Cawthorne-Hwang; employment and labour group, Temisan Boyo; and tax group, Shavone Hayes.

■ Fasken Martineau has hired Emil Vanjaka as an associate with the emerging technologies team in its Montreal office. Vanjaka handles all aspects of corporate, commercial and intellectual property law. He is particularly interested in emerging startups and new information technologies.

■ Aird & Berlis has added seven associates in the following areas: Michael McDonald and Haley Wong real estate group; Danielle Muise and Jessica Millar, litigation group; Meaghan Barrett, municipal land use and planning group; Liam Tracey-Raymont, corporate finance group; and Alyssa Gebert, financial services group.

■ Sarah Walker is joining Polley Faith as an associate. Walker’s practice focuses on civil litigation in a variety of areas, including commercial, broker/dealer and class actions.

■ Articling students Gregory Sills and John Paul Zeni have joined Thomson, Rogers as new associates. Sills will be working with partners Jeff Wilker and David Germain in the planning and municipal group. Zeni will work with partners Michael Bennett and Darcy Merkur in the personal injury group.
