Legal pot coming but impact on driving murky

With the legalization of marijuana in Canada being imminent, concerns over driving while impaired by the drug are reaching a crescendo.

As with many laws, it is the unintended consequences that raise the most concern. The transition toward legalization will make marijuana more accessible. However, studies with regard to its impact on driving are not proceeding at the same pace.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in marijuana, can cause lethargy, decreased motor co-ordination and otherwise impact an individual’s ability to operate a motor vehicle.
