Tyr LLP adds litigation associate

Tyr LLP announced that associate lawyer Michael O’Brien has joined its litigation team. O’Brien joins Tyr after seven years with McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

According to the Toronto firm’s press release, O’Brien has been lead counsel in trials, hearings and appeals before various courts and administrative tribunals in Ontario and is an adviser to publicly traded and privately held companies, public institutions, investors, professionals and high-profile individuals.

O’Brien has a BA in English language and literature from the University of Waterloo (2007) and a masters in English from Waterloo in 2010. He earned his juris doctor at the University of Windsor in 2012 and was called to the bar in Ontario in 2013.

He is the vice-chair of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section subcommittee on Class Actions, and is an editor and regular contributor to the Class Actions chapter in the ABA’s annually updated Recent Developments in Business and Corporate Litigation. He is active in the community and has held a number of leadership positions on the boards of charitable organizations.
