Canada urged to stop detaining immigrant children

Canada must make the best interests of children its primary consideration when deciding whether to hold individuals in immigration detention if it wants to meet its commitments under international law, experts say.

In a new report, scholars with the International Human Rights Program at the University of Toronto urged Canadian officials to stop putting children in the immigration detention system, including in solitary confinement.
