Smart & Biggar adds four associates in Montreal

Smart & Biggar announced that associates Elodie Dion, Ali Faridukbou, Christopher A. Guaiani and Lorena Olmos have joined the firm’s litigation and patents team in Montreal.
According to the firm’s press release, Dion works with all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and industrial designs. She earned her master’s in IP law in France, where she interned for an IP firm and studied the role of trademark protection in the pharmaceutical industry. 

Faridkhou, a new member of the firm’s patent team, combines his multidisciplinary engineering background and experience in management consulting to help companies achieve their business goals in diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, oil and gas, food, polymers, medical devices, automotive and aerospace. Before joining Smart & Biggar, he was a technical consultant helping small and medium-sized enterprises recoup maximum portions of their R&D expenditures through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program.

Guaiani, also joining the litigation team, assists small to large sized corporations, operating locally and internationally, in a variety of patent, trademark and copyright cases. 

Olmos joins Smart & Biggar’s patent team as a technical consultant. With nine years of experience in high-tech product development and an educational background in law, she provides patent drafting and prosecution services in a wide array of industries.
