Fasken announced that new partner and patent agent Alain Leclerc has joined the firm’s intellectual property (IP) practice group in the Montreal office.

According to Fasken’s press release, Leclerc specializes in writing and obtaining patents in Canada and abroad. In addition to his many patent prosecution proceedings, he has expertise in the areas of IP litigation, due diligence, strategy, portfolio value creation and licensing. He is particularly active in the patent field and has appeared before the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Leclerc chairs the board of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). He is also a member of the Canadian Patent Agent Examination Standards Committee.

Leclerc was previously with Lavery Lawyers.

“We are very pleased to welcome Alain back into the firm. His return confirms the depth of our intellectual property practice group, already recognized as a leader in Quebec. His advanced expertise as a lawyer and patent agent will be a major asset for our clients,” said Éric Bédard, managing partner for the Quebec region.
