New partner, two new associates for Lerners

Lerners LLP announced that Anna Matas has been made partner and associates Émilie-Anne Puckering and Mark Evans have joined the firm.

According to Lerners’ press release, Matas, who joined the firm as an associate lawyer in 2013, is now a partner as of Sept. 1.

Her practice focuses on civil sexual assault and abuse cases.

She has made dozens of appearances before administrative tribunals including the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario

Puckering joins the Toronto office, as a member of the family law group. She received her juris doctor, French Common Law Program, from the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 2019. 

She was previously with McCague Borlack LLP as an associate, articling and summer student.

Evans will work from the firm’s office in London, Ont. He joins Lerners’ business law group. He has experience in the following areas: representing vendors and purchasers in asset and share purchase transactions for small and medium enterprises (SME); representing landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions, representing SME clients on a variety of commercial agreements and in structuring and restructuring transactions; advising money services business clients with regard to FSCO and FINTRAC compliance and other regulatory matters.
