■ Donald Bayne of Bayne Sellar Boxall has won the 2016 Catzman Award. The award, which recognizes civility and professionalism in the profession, was created in 2008 in memory of Marvin Catzman, former justice for the Court of Appeal of Ontario.

Moves

■ Michael Horvath has joined Aird & Berlis LLP as a partner and member of its workplace law group and labour and employment team. Horvath has developed a broad expertise in labour and employment law, spanning federal and provincial jurisdictions, in his 17-year career. He advises employers on matters such as employment standards, human rights, discipline, discharge, union certification, wrongful dismissal and general labour and employment law issues.

■ Bereskin & Parr has added three new associates. Anastassia Trifonova will work from the Toronto office as a member of the firm’s litigation practice group. Benjamin Lai joins the electrical and computer technology practice group in Toronto. Alain Alphonse is a new member of the firm’s electrical and computer technology practice group in Montreal.

■ Cassels Brock & Blackwell has hired 16 new associates, 14 in its Toronto office and two in Vancouver. Joining Toronto are Robyn Blumberg; Xi Chen; Brittany Finn; Matt Gold; Ben Goodis; Lauren Grossman; David Kelman; Noah Leszcz; James Lyle; Michael Mahoney; Alex Murphy; Jacqueline Richards; Stefanie Sebanc; and Kwaku Tabi. Arend Hoekstra and Jenna Clark are the new additions in Vancouver.
