Women not applying for federal benches

Newly disclosed government statistics reveal that less than half as many women as men applied for the federal benches during the Harper government’s decade in power, raising the question: Why don’t more female lawyers go after the prestigious, $314,100-per-annum posts?

Over the years, the former Conservative government was repeatedly called out by the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and other critics for naming too few female and minority judges.
