■ Two lawyers are joining Miller Thomson’s Montreal office. Mary Delli Quadri is a new partner who specializes in litigation, particularly in the areas of insurance, professional liability and damage insurance claims. New associate Amina Boudiffa specializes in tax law, mainly in the areas of tax litigation and dispute resolution.

■ Smart & Biggar has added five new associates. Shirley Liang Komosa and Brandon Heard are joining the firm’s Toronto office, while Kevin Unrau and Daniel Hnatchuk will work out of the Ottawa office. And Alexandre Caya is a new associate in the Montreal office.

■ Gary Doer, former Canadian ambassador to the United States and past premier of Manitoba, has joined Dentons as a senior business adviser in the firm’s Toronto office.

■ Dentons has enhanced its U.K. real estate sector with the hiring of four partners from Irwin Mitchell. Rob Thomson, Rupert Dowdell and Lewis Myers, specialists in investment and development work and Jayne Schnider, head of corporate real estate, have joined the firm.

■ Maryse Bertrand has joined Borden Ladner Gervais’ Montreal office as a strategic adviser and counsel in the securities and capital markets group. Bertrand’s practice focuses on M&A, capital markets, risk management and governance.

■ Ten new associates are coming to Borden Ladner Gervais. Working out of the Montreal office will be Julie Fortier, Kevin Mailloux and Hugo Saint Laurent. Joining the Ottawa office are Jessica Sheridan, Marion Unrau, Jillian Brenner and Avril Ford-Aubry. And Reed Taubner, Sonny Ingram and John McIntyre are joining the firm’s Toronto office.
