Judicial leaders seek more control over court administration, budgets

Fed up with their limited power to combat undue court delays or otherwise improve the efficiency of the justice system, judicial leaders across Canada are renewing efforts to wrest more control over their courts’ budgets and administration from the executive branch of government — a long-held ambition that carries risks, as well as rewards, experts say.
