Fellowships give recipients fresh viewpoints

Nikki Gershbain wants to bring an end to people representing themselves in a legal system that they can’t understand, while simultaneously improving both access to legal aid programs and the affordability of legal services.

“The procedural complexities of the legal system make it very difficult for the average person to get a handle on the access to justice. It’s very complex. It’s designed for lawyers, not laypeople,” says the national director of Pro Bono Students Canada in Toronto.
