Gowling WLG announced that Tracey Scher and Philip Tousignant are the new general managers of its Vancouver and Montreal offices, respectively.

According to Gowlings’ press release, Scher began her career as a corporate lawyer in the U.K., working both in private practice and in-house for over a decade. After a further 10 years in the hospitality industry as owner operator of a boutique holiday resort in France, she moved to Vancouver where she has spent the past four years as chief operating officer of a Vancouver-based law firm.

Tousignant joins the firm with more than 25 years of experience in financial management in operational and corporate contexts. He previously served as vice-president, finance and administration, of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, as well as vice-president and chief financial officer of Montreal’s Olympic Park.

The arrival of Tousignant and Scher coincides with the retirement of France Cabana and Ernie Gauvreau, general managers of the firm’s Montreal and Vancouver offices.

“Both Philip and Tracey have significant experience cultivating dynamic work environments underpinned by seamless teamwork, bold innovation and sophisticated strategy,” said Richard McConnell, Gowling WLG Canada’s chief operating officer. “As we continuously seek new ways to serve our clients better, they will be tremendous assets to our team. At the same time, we thank France and Ernie for their years of distinguished service and wish them both a happy retirement. ”
