Ontario in-person criminal trials slated to begin July 6

Some criminal trials and preliminary hearings in the Ontario Court of Justice (OCJ) are resuming July 6 as part of the province’s gradual reopening of in-person proceedings.

According to an OCJ news release, 93 courthouses will reopen initially, with the rollout expected to continue until Nov. 1. The Ministry of the Attorney General is implementing health and safety measures in each courthouse.

Courthouses expected to reopen include Barrie, Oshawa, Hamilton, Brampton, St. Catharines, Kingston, Ottawa, Sudbury, Toronto’s College Park location, Toronto’s Old City Hall, Kitchener, London and Windsor.
