Thornton Grout Finnigan adds counsel

Thornton Grout Finnigan announced that Fraser Hughes has joined the firm as counsel upon his return to Canada after 12 years in the Cayman Islands.

According to the firm’s press release, Hughes was an insolvency and commercial litigation lawyer on Bay Street for eight years before moving to the Cayman Islands where he litigated some of the world’s largest global insolvency matters for the past 12 years.

He has particular expertise in matters involving the oppression remedy, foreign recognition proceedings, money laundering, international trade, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and financial regulation, among other matters. 

He has represented both accountants and accounting firms in respect of professional complaints and he is experienced at obtaining urgent injunctive relief in international commercial and fraud matters.
