The British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) announced the appointment of its new executive director, Karen Campbell, effective Sept. 8, 2020.

According to the BCLI's press release, Campbell brings over 20 years of experience practising public interest law in British Columbia — most of which has involved law reform and advocacy for strengthened legal tools. Her work has been designed to address access to justice issues, using both Indigenous and Crown legal frameworks. In her previous positions, Campbell has forged effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, developed creative approaches to legal challenges and contributed to both federal and provincial law reform initiatives.

She holds a bachelor of laws degree from Dalhousie University and a master's in law from the University of London, England.

"I am thrilled to be joining BCLI and look forward to working with the staff, board and BCLI community to continue the organization's important work," said Campbell.
