DLA Piper names new managing partner for Edmonton office

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP announced that Veronica Monteiro is the new managing partner of the Edmonton office.

According to the firm’s press release, Monteiro, a member of the corporate, real estate ‎and pension and benefits groups, has been a fundamental ‎contributor to DLA Piper Canada’s growing client base and is often sought after by key ‎firm clients for her strategic legal and business advice.‎‎ ‎‎She ‎is also a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.‎ ‎‎

Monteiro was the Alberta co-chair of the ‎‎Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Pensions and Benefits ‎Section from 2011 to 2019 and was the financial ‎‎literacy liaison on the national executive ‎of the CBA. In September 2019, ‎‎she became the secretary of ‎the national CBA Pensions and Benefits ‎Section ‎and in September 2020 will remain on the national executive as the national outreach officer. ‎ ‎

Monteiro succeeds Rachel Hamilton who has been managing partner of the Edmonton office since 2013. “We thank Rachel for her strong leadership through some of the firm’s most significant transitions,” said Seidel. “Her forward-thinking perspective has been essential to the continued growth of the Edmonton office and its successful transition to forming part of a leading global firm.
