McInnes Cooper expands by 10 associates

McInnes Cooper announced that the following associates have joined its team: Brianna Barry (Saint John), Erin Devine (Charlottetown), Hilary GilroyRebecca Khan, Emily McCormick, Paige McInnis, Natasha Puka, Elizabeth Salami, Carolyn Suley (Halifax) and Myriam Whalen (Fredericton).

Barry has a general practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, corporate and commercial law, wills and estates, banking litigation and asset recovery.

Devine has a practice focused in litigation, particularly insurance defence and labour and employment law. She advises insurers with respect to all aspects of related litigation, from trial preparation and discovery through to representation in court. 

Gilroy is a part of the firm’s asset recovery and insolvency group. She provides advice and litigation support to individual and institutional clients, including receivers and trustees, with respect to a range of bankruptcy, insolvency and financial matters.

Khan’s practice is focused on corporate and business law, particularly in the areas of corporate finance, securities and intellectual property. 

McCormick has a general corporate and commercial practice. She primarily represents clients in the startup sector, providing advice on incorporations, structuring, option plans, shareholder agreements and general legal matters.

McInnis has a practice focused in tax law and estates and trusts. During her articles, she gained extensive experience in tax matters, providing support on tax-efficient corporate reorganizations, drafting checklists and documents, supporting general corporate transactional work and working with businesses to develop tax effective planning strategies.

Puka has a general litigation practice, focused in insurance defence, class actions and alternative dispute resolution. Her practice also extends to labour and employment, administrative law and regulation of professions.

Salami has a practice primarily focused on immigration law. During her articles, she gained experience assisting in a range of business and individual immigration matters.

Suley has a corporate law practice, focused in the areas of finance and securities, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. She has assisted in numerous private placement financings, incorporations and other general corporate transactions.

Whalen has a broad practice encompassing corporate governance, business immigration, real estate law, franchise law and entertainment law.
