Remote deposit capture (RDC) allows some bank customers to take pictures of cheques with smartphone apps or scanners and deposit them electronically. While this exciting development has introduced tremendous efficiencies for banks, businesses and consumers, it has also had the effect of increasing the risk of duplicate cheque deposits.
