The driverless future

Someone once said that predictions are unreliable, especially regarding the future. It is clear, however, that personal injury law is changing at a rapid rate, and before long it may be unrecognizable.

Personal injury lawyers, and specifically lawyers dealing with motor vehicle accidents, always talk about the pendulum swinging between the Insurance Act and Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule provisions that alternate between favouring the plaintiff or defendant (read insurers). An amendment today may be beneficial to plaintiffs, but another amendment tomorrow may favour insurers.
