Lerners announces six new partners

Lerners announced that Danielle Douek, Andrew Hentz, Danielle Gavreau, Cale Sutherland, Alex Sharpe and Rebecca Shoom have joined the Toronto firm’s partnership. 

According to the firm's press release, Douek, an advocate with more than 10 years of experience including in health law, plaintiff personal injury, insurance defence and education law, is a litigator in the London, Ont., office. In addition to her advocacy work on behalf of her clients, she also provides advice related to professional regulation and privacy. She has served as a member of the Ontario Bar Association Health Law Section Executive since 2019.

Hentz’s practice is focused on real estate and land development law. He advises clients on the acquisition, financing, development and sale of farm, residential, commercial and industrial properties. Prior to embarking upon his legal career, Hentz was an infantry officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Regular Force and served in the Reserve Force until 2017.

Gauvreau practises in the area of insurance defence from the firm’s London office. Her practice includes providing advice and representation related to personal injury claims, statutory accident benefits, property damage claims, insurance coverage and subrogation. She sits on the board of directors of Investing in Children.

Sutherland practises plaintiff personal injury law and health law. In his personal injury practice, he represents clients who have been seriously injured to assist them in obtaining compensation and moving on with their lives. Sutherland represents clients in regulatory and litigation matters within his health law practice. He serves as a member of the board of directors for the TAP Centre for Creativity in London.

A litigator based in the London office, Sharpe’s practice includes insurance defence, health law, professional regulation and class actions. He currently serves as a trustee of the Middlesex Law Association and was a member of the Young Advocates Standing Committee of The Advocates’ Society from 2016 to 2020.

Shoom is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation, arbitration and appellate advocacy groups. She represents clients in a number of areas including, business and contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, commercial arbitrations, employment litigation and securities litigation. She is a member of The Advocates’ Society’s Young Advocates Standing Committee and a roster lawyer for the Ontario Securities Commission Litigation Assistance Program.
