Lawyers to do battle for guts and glory in Covenant House fundraiser

Wednesday, February 01, 2017 @ 1:40 PM | By Elisa Birnbaum

On Feb. 8, lawyers from across Toronto will be competing in the second annual Covenant House Guts + Glory Corporate Challenge in support of Toronto’s homeless youth.

Taking place at Ryerson University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, the event will bring together teams of lawyers from McCarthy Tétrault, Borden Ladner Gervais, DLA Piper and Faskin Martineau who will take on 10 challenges to test speed, agility, strength and power. From inverted wall climbs to power sled races, each challenge is designed with the goals of building team spirit, pushing individual limits - and raising $400,000. At the heart of February’s Covenant House month, the event is instrumental to the agency’s efforts to raise awareness of youth homelessness and much  needed funds to support their work.

Covenant House Toronto is the country’s largest homeless youth agency offering a wide range of services to help the lives of at-risk, homeless and trafficked youth, such as a 24/7 crisis shelter and longer-term residential programs as well as education, counselling and job training.

Norton Rose Fulbright is the event’s returning sponsor and TSN Sportscentre anchor, Kate Beirness, will be the host. Firms wanting to take on the challenge can sign up a team at gutsglory.ca.
