Getting on board the fight against data breaches

Unauthorized data breaches have become an unfortunate part of business life. In 2015, British insurance company Lloyds estimated that cyberattacks cost organizations US$400 billion each year in damages and business disruption. A new data breach is reported almost every day.

As a result, strong oversight of data security and data breach preparedness has become a fundamental requirement of good corporate governance. Organizational data security and breach preparedness should be on the agenda of every Canadian organization’s board of directors.
