Lavery promotes five to partnership

Lavery Lawyers welcomed Dave Bouchard, Brittany Carson, Stéphanie Destrempes, Ali El Haskouri and Marie-Nancy Paquet to the partnership.

According to the firm’s press release, Bouchard practises mainly in the areas of labour and employment law out of its offices in Sherbrooke, Que. He advises employers on all legal issues relating to human resources management, as well as employment injury matters, while also representing them both before the various administrative tribunals and courts of law.

Carson, based in Montreal, is a member of the labour and employment law group. She joined Lavery after articling with the firm. Carson advises her clients on all aspects of employment law, including employment standards litigation and the review of employment contracts and company policies.

Montreal partner Destrempes works in the franchising and distribution group. She represents Quebec franchisors and distributors from various industries, including the foodservice, retail, service, and health and wellness industries, in matters relating to implementing business models, developing operational structures, managing and restructuring franchise networks, expanding networks outside Quebec, setting up new foreign networks in Quebec, trademark protection and mergers and acquisitions. 

El Haskouri, based in Montreal, is a member of the business law group and focuses his practice on debt financing. He has solid experience in business financing at all the stages of their life cycles (pre-startup, startup, development or marketing), including debt financing (bank syndication, subordinated loans, convertible debentures, secured loans, etc.); and stake acquisition (co-investment in venture capital, investment funds, funds of funds and investment in mature businesses, private placements in public corporations).

Paquet, based in Sherbrooke, is a member of the firm’s litigation group. She practises mainly in the areas of liability and civil litigation, including several collective actions. Before joining Lavery in 2018, Paquet practised for more than 15 years in a firm in Quebec City, where she specialized in health and social services law.
