In partnership with the Options Community Services registered charity, women from Fasken, one of Canada’s largest law firms, have stepped up to raise additional funds for the Women of Options campaign. The firm will match the group’s donations for a combined targeted goal of $25,000.

According to a press release, at Options Community Services, the mission is to inspire hope and belonging for all, by building a healthy and caring community where everyone thrives. The absence of affordable housing is one of the biggest barriers faced by people reaching out to Options Community Services. Fasken joining the Women of Options campaign means together both companies will be supporting much-needed affordable housing in Surrey, B.C.

“When I heard about the Women of Options campaign, I was inspired by the 50 women champions,” said Tracey Cohen, partner at Fasken. “Fasken wanted to come together as part of the community to help. Affordable housing and related services will have long-lasting impacts, shaping our communities in ways that support some of our most vulnerable members. My colleagues and I wanted to be a part of that.”

Options Community Services has partnered with 50 South Fraser women in a new capital campaign to raise $1.5 million for affordable housing units. The 50 participating women have offered to help by joining the campaign to raise $25,000 each in support of this project.

The $1.5 million raised through Options Community Services will go towards a 100-unit complex at King George Boulevard. Of these 100 units, 30 will be market rentals, while the remaining 70 will be well below market rates — designated as affordable housing, with rent starting as low as $375 per month.
