Revised Newfoundland family court rules aim for faster, fairer resolutions

New rules have come into effect in family court in Newfoundland and Labrador to promote the just, timely and cost-effective resolutions of cases.

The rules committee of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, trial division, has released new Trial Division Family Rules that are made to minimize conflict and promote co-operation between parties involved in family proceedings in the court, and to minimize the impact that the conduct of a proceeding may have on a child.
