Heuristica Discovery Counsel announced that Duncan Fraser has joined the firm as co-CEO and senior counsel and will be opening the firm’s Ottawa office.

One of Canada’s leading electronic discovery lawyers, Fraser will advise Heuristica’s clients on all stages of the e-discovery process, information governance and privacy law. Fraser has over 20 years of legal experience, including substantial litigation experience in fraud, Aboriginal, environmental and injunctive matters.

Under his direction, the federal Department of Justice became a public leader in e-discovery when Fraser created the department’s evidence management service, which delivers expedited document review to litigation teams across the country. He also provided litigation readiness advice and strategies to other government departments in order to reduce the cost, risk and disruption of the disclosure process in litigation. His team was responsible for the department’s e-Service initiative, disclosure project management, courtroom technology and the development of national e-discovery standards/best practices.

Heuristica is a Toronto-based boutique legal practice focused on electronic discovery, evidence management, and related litigation and legal services.
