You would think from all the media hype and law society pronouncements, that the concept of referral fees among lawyers was a bad thing that harmed innocent clients. In fact, the reverse is true.

A robust and transparent referral fee system with a free market bent is actually beneficial to the public. For the law society to prohibit or severely limit referral fees reflects a lack of Main Street knowledge on the part of Bay Street elites.
