Loopstra Nixon adds partner, associate to team

Loopstra Nixon LLP  announced that partner Jayson Thomas and associate Connor Macdonald have joined the firm’s commercial and construction litigation group.

According to the firm’s press release, Thomas has acted successfully as lead counsel before trial courts across Canada and the United States, and in appeals and judicial reviews before the Ontario Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.

He represents businesses and individuals in complex commercial and contractual disputes, employment matters, shareholder and partnership disputes, real property disputes and negligence claims. He is routinely retained to seek extraordinary pretrial relief, including worldwide asset freezing (Mareva) orders and other forms of emergency injunctive relief. He was previously of counsel with Fuerst Ittleman David & Joseph, PL in Miami.

Macdonald is also a member of the firm’s intellectual property practice group.

While at law school, he was a student director at the Western Business Law Clinic and a managing editor at the Western Journal of Legal Studies.

Before joining the firm as an associate, Macdonald articled and practised at an international Canadian law firm.
