Gillian Hnatiw & Co. welcomed associate Maria Naimark to the firm.

The firm’s press release said that Naimark practises civil litigation in the areas of health law, administrative law, professional regulation and liability, and employment law, and uses the law to combat gender-based violence in all its forms.

Prior to joining Gillian Hnatiw & Co., she practised corporate law and financial litigation at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York City. She maintained an active pro bono practice focusing on LGBTQ+ asylum claims. Naimark clerked for the Ontario Court of Appeal from 2018-2019, where she worked with Justices Sarah Pepall, Gary Trotter and Grant Huscroft on a range of criminal and civil appellate matters.

While studying at Harvard Law School, Naimark was the co-director of the International Refugee Assistance Project and active on the board of directors of the Prisoner Legal Assistance Project. She also worked at Harvard’s Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, appearing in Boston’s Family Court. During the summer, she interned at the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate in the United Nations headquarters.
