Proposed bill boosts powers of Manitoba Children’s Advocate

A bill in the Manitoba legislature would give the Office of the Children’s Advocate more power to investigate and make public reports on services related to young people across the province.

The Advocate for Children and Youth Act had its first reading on March 2 and will extend the Children’s Advocate’s investigative authority beyond the child welfare system, so that it encompasses all publicly funded services pertaining to youth.
