Ottawa sheds new light on federal judge appointment process

Ottawa has given lawyers who aspire to the superior courts a new window into what constitutes “the right stuff” for ascending to the coveted $314,100-per-annum federal judgeships.

The Liberal government made good on its pledge to add some transparency to the secrecy-shrouded judicial appointment process when Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould appointed former Stewart McKelvey partner, Tracey Clements, to the P.E.I. Supreme Court March 9.
