Legalization of marijuana could be boon for lawyers in many practice areas

The federal government’s move to announce legislation next month to legalize marijuana across the country by July 1, 2018, could create business opportunities for lawyers across a wide range of practice areas.

The legislation is based on recommendations made in a report by the Task Force on Cannabis Legalization and Regulation, chaired by former Liberal Justice Minister Anne McLellan. The report has over 80 recommendations on how to protect public health and safety during legalization.
