Gowling WLG announced that Melissa Roth has joined its employment, labour and equalities (ELE) group based in its Waterloo Region office as a partner.

According to the firm press release, over the course of her career, Roth has advised public and private sector clients on human rights issues, wrongful dismissals, employment contracts, grievance arbitrations, collective agreement negotiations, policy development, workplace investigations and occupational health and safety, among other areas. She routinely represents her clients’ interests before the Ontario courts, the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

“Melissa’s formidable legal talents are underpinned by a practical understanding of the realities businesses face every day,” Bryce Kraeker, managing partner of Gowling WLG’s Waterloo Region office, said in the release. “As companies across Canada grapple with the challenges of the post-COVID employment law landscape, she will be a superb resource for our clients and a great addition to our national practice.”

She was previously with Hicks Morley for 10 years in Waterloo, Ont.
