Bennett joins DLA Piper as senior tax counsel

 Richard (Rick) Bennett has joined DLA Piper's Vancouver office as senior tax counsel. 

With over 30 years of tax experience, Bennett will significantly expand the firm’s tax capabilities in serving its domestic and international clients.

Bennett's well-established practice focuses on income tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and both inbound and outbound international taxation. 

He has served as lead tax counsel on several billion-dollar acquisitions and regularly advises clients in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency. 

Bennett has also appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, British Columbia Court of Appeal, Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Active in the tax community, Bennett serves on the board of governors at the Canadian Tax Foundation. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Bennett was a senior tax partner of a large national law firm.
