Group urges pay transparency bill to close gender wage gap in Ontario

On April 11, the Ontario Equal Pay Coalition called on the provincial government to close the gender wage gap by recommending a pay transparency act.

According to the group, the average wage gap between men and women working in Ontario is 30 per cent. The most recent Statistics Canada data on the wage gap are from 2011 and show that women make 72 cents an hour for every dollar a man makes.
