Fasken to host one-day seminar on OHS best practices

Monday, April 24, 2017 @ 9:13 AM | By John Chunn

Fasken Martineau is hosting a one-day seminar on May 2 on occupational health and safety best practices.

Health and safety compliance is critical for every employer in Ontario. Employers have a legal obligation to ensure managers and supervisors are “competent” under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).

This course will provide attendees with a working knowledge of the OHSA. It will also provide managers and supervisors with practical knowledge regarding OHS legal compliance and how to establish due diligence by implementing an OHS management system.

Participants will also learn about the Bill C-45 amendments to the Criminal Code and “lessons-to-be-learned” from the Metron case.

Finally, attendees will participate in a mock trial exercise to apply the knowledge they have learned in an enjoyable learning experience based on a real court case.

This course is designed by Norm Keith, a leading regulatory, employment and white collar defence lawyer and author of Canadian Health and Safety Law, and his team of OHS consultants at Fasken Martineau.
