SCC set to hear rare Hague Convention case but appeal might be moot

The Supreme Court has announced it will hear separate appeals in a pay equity case from Quebec and in an internationally significant case from Ontario on the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

The top court dismissed 18 applications for leave to appeal April 27, but agreed to hear, on an expedited basis, an appeal by the Office of the Children’s Lawyer of Ontario of an Ontario Court of Appeal decision last year.
