Alberta aims to strengthen laws protecting whistleblowers in public sector

New amendments to legislation protecting whistleblowers will encourage the reporting of wrongdoings within the public sector and would even apply to complaints against cabinet ministers, MLAs and the premier in the province of Alberta.

Christina GrayThe amendments, tabled this week by Labour Minister Christina Gray, would allow employees to contact the Public Interest Commissioner directly to report a wrongdoing, bypassing their supervisor or the designated officer in their department.
