■ Alex MacFarlane is a new partner in Borden Ladner Gervais’ Toronto office. He joins the banking and financial services and bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring groups. MacFarlane acts for debtor corporations, financial institutions, receivers, court appointed monitors, liquidators, creditors’ committees, trustees in bankruptcy and purchasers of distressed assets.

■ Andrea Hill is a new associate with SkyLaw. Hill is a corporate and securities lawyer. Prior to joining SkyLaw, she was an associate at Wildeboer Dellelce in Toronto where she had a broad corporate and securities law practice.

■ Sam De Caprio is a new partner in Miller Thomson LLP’s construction litigation group at the firm’s Markham office. De Caprio is a litigator with over 20 years of experience representing clients involved in contractual disputes, shareholder disagreements and construction lien matters. He also has an active tax litigation practice, representing corporations, individual taxpayers and corporate officers and directors facing claims of negligence and alleged wrongdoing.

■ Cynthia Jackson is a new partner in Dentons’ Silicon Valley office. Jackson has more than three decades of experience in California, as well as international employment counselling and litigation. In addition to handling the global co-ordination of human resources and personnel-related agreements, policies and initiatives, she defends companies and C-suite individuals in high-profile class actions and other high-stakes employment litigation.
