■ Chumak & Company LLP is a new intellectual property partnership of Yuri Chumak and Peter Elyjiw based in downtown Toronto. The firm offers patent and trademark services, as well as IP litigation, transactional support and advice on technology matters.

■ Arbitration Place is opening a facility in Ottawa. J. Douglas Cunningham, former associate chief justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, will be a resident arbitrator in the Toronto office and at the forefront of Arbitration Place-Ottawa.

■ Norton Rose Fulbright is opening an office in Monaco, scheduled to open early in 2017. It will primarily service the firm’s shipping and finance clients, many of whom have close connections with Monaco. The office will be headed by Dimitri Sofianopoulos, partner and head of Norton Rose Fulbright Greece, who will divide his time between Greece and Monaco.

■ Richard Butler has become a partner with Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP. Butler provides advice on all aspects of environmental law including regulatory compliance and approvals; contaminated land investigations and remediation; and spills response, wastewater discharges and waste management.

■ Spencer Bailey has joined Minden Gross’s business law group as an associate. Bailey’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law with a special interest in mergers, acquisitions and business solutions for clients in the health, industrial and food services sectors.
