Court overturns denial of pension to soldier with PTSD

A self-represented Afghanistan war veteran with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has won a key court victory in his bid for a higher pension.

On Dec. 29, Federal Court Justice Glennys McVeigh granted the judicial review application of retired Cpl. Joel Mousseau, who is fighting the decision of the Canadian Forces to deny him the higher rank — and pension — of master corporal because he was unable to take artillery training due to his PTSD.
